Council is pleased to announce that 21 candidates have been nominated in the 2024 elections. This demonstrates a significant interest in the Council's important work. We thank all nominated candidates for putting themselves forward and we encourage all registered doctors to vote.
The Council has an important role in protecting public safety by setting standards for the medical profession and ensuring that doctors are competent and fit to practise. Council elections are about building a strong Council that the public, government and medical profession can have confidence in. There are 12 members, of which four members of the profession are elected.
The opportunity to cast your vote for the election of the four medical members to join the governance of the Medical Council is available starting today.
The comprehensive candidate booklet containing profiles of each candidate has been sent to every registered doctor, accompanied by essential voting information.
Make your voice heard by participating in the voting process, which concludes at 12 noon on Friday, 22 March 2024.
