NZREX Clinical examinations in 2025

We are increasing capacity to sit the examination in March 2025, to a total of 60 places. Many of the candidates who applied to sit this examination, but were not originally allocated a place, will now be able to proceed with their applications for this examination. We will contact those candidates shortly.

No further places are available for this examination.

14 June 2025

We will hold an NZREX Clinical on 14 June 2025 with an additional 60 places. Those who have already applied for the March 2025 examination, but are not allocated to a place at this examination, will be able to proceed with their applications for the June 2025 examination. We will contact those candidates shortly.

Applications are now open for the remaining places. Applications will close at 12:00 noon on 19 December 2024.

For fairness to all applicants, should we receive more applications than spaces available, we will select applications in the following order:

• applicants where the five-year validity of their prerequisite clinical knowledge examination will expire before 13 September 2025
• applicants who have not previously sat the NZREX Clinical
• all other applicants.

If there are more applications than spaces available within these groups, we will draw applications at random from within these groups to fill the examination spaces available.

We will advise applicants on whether their application was selected by 20 December 2024. Applicants who are not selected will be asked if they wish to sit the 13 September 2025 examination.

13 September 2025

We are also increasing our capacity at the September 2025 examination to a total of 60 places.

Applications for the 13 September 2025 NZREX Clinical are now open.

If we have not received 60 applications for this examination by 12:00 noon on 19 December 2024, applications will remain open until spaces are full. Applications will be selected in the following order:

• applicants who are not selected for the June 2025 examination
• all other applicants, on a first-come, first-serve basis.

For fairness to all applicants, in the unlikely event we receive more applications than spaces available by 12:00 noon on 19 December 2024, we will select applications in the following order:

• applicants where the five-year validity of their prerequisite clinical knowledge examination will expire before 1 March 2026
• applicants who are not selected for the June 2025 examination
• applicants who have not previously sat the NZREX Clinical
• all other applicants.

We will draw applications at random to process from within these groups. If there are more applications than spaces available within these groups, we will draw applications at random from within these groups to fill the examination spaces available.

We aim to advise applicants on whether their application was selected by 20 December 2024.

Subsequent withdrawals from the March or June 2025 examinations

In the event candidates subsequently withdraw from the March or June examinations, these places will be made available to candidates who have been allocated to later exams.
